Reprisals

Lady Medri Velve'Sirn padded silently down the hall, her hand delicately resting on Fireach's arm. The firbolg trailed along behind her, doing his best to remove his scale one-handed.

Lady Medri slipped to the door of her room, looked the pair of guards in the eye and led her thrall inside.

The younger of the guards' eyes widened after he left. In a voice barely above a whisper, he said, "She's not actually going to-?"

The other shook his head. "Maybe. But whenever she does that, orders are sent the next day."

The younger nodded, as if that made perfect sense.

Inside, Fireach gulped at his ale and relayed the message that Isliffell had delivered to him. Lady Medri nodded now and then, neither of them paying attention to their Glamoured images on the bed.

Finally, Medri nodded. "Good, Fireach." She took a sip of lager. "We will need Melzar's information before the final decision is made, though." She waved her hand, setting the matter aside. "Tomorrow, speak to my Chancellor about the infirmary and the healers. We will need to be in full supply of both should the war come."

Fireach nodded. "Aye, lady. If I may ask, how are our other supplies?"

Medri nodded gracefully, giving him the right. "The Erius are providing us with the food and other such supplies we need. They can ever be trusted in that matter. The Sheevra, though...." She scowled and flipped one of her silvery braids. "The Sheevra have no truesilver to forge and no shadow crystal to shape since the Unseelie of the Mines have stopped offering tribute." She shifted position, swung her legs over the arm of her chair. "I think that while Melzar is gathering the information I need, I will send a raiding party to fetch enough shadow crystal and truesilver for a mace and a sword."

Fireach nodded. "Of course, lady." He rose, the chair creaking. "I shall see you in the morning."

Lady Medri Velve'Sirn nodded and waved her hand dismissively. "Of course, Fireach, of course."

Her Glamoured form on the bed let out a banshee wail.
